There are several types of restraining orders available: emergency, temporary and permanent. Depending on the specifics of the case, the orders may include:

  • Personal conduct orders — This orders the person to stop contacting, harassing, stalking, assaulting or disturbing the peace of the protected individuals.
  • Stay-away orders — With this order, the alleged abuser must remain a certain distance away from the protected people, their cars, their work and school.
  • Kick-out orders — Also called move-out orders, these require the alleged abuser to leave the residence until the court hearing.
